The woodwork bench

 Woodwork is the process of arranging, engineering and carving wood in order to create something. There are some techniques in the woodwork and some of them are the following.

The first one is carpentry. This craft is referred to woodworking but is also used in big projects for house building. A carpenter is the least skilled person in the woodwork industry.

The second one is joinery. This is the process of joining wood together without the need for screws, nails, or other materials. This job is tightly connected with cabinet and furniture makers.

The next one is cabinetry. This is a synonym of furniture makers and they are skilled in creating fine furniture.

Then the next one is marquetry. The other name for that is parquetry and represents creating patterns by the use of wood inlays or veneers. It has been used in the past as decorating furniture and is regarded as an art along with sculpturing and painting.

The difference between marquetry and parquetry represents in the design. In marquetry scenes are created like a landscape or a portrait while in parquetry with the help of wood veneers are created abstract geometric forms.

Then on the list follows turning. The person uses a tool named lathe in order to turn a piece of wood while he carves.

Wood species selects the proper wood for the project.

In carving is similar to turning but there is no lathe.

Another profession is boat building or also named shipwright.

A luthier is the producer of musical instruments like violins and guitars.

The wheelwright makes wheels form wood. And the cooper creates barrels and casks.

The patternmaker creates patterns for metal or sandcasting.

There are many tools used to create design but the most used one is the woodwork bench or workbench.

This is a table where the wood is carved or cut. It is a high table where the woodworker can work while standing up or sitting on a stool. There are some patterns of the woodwork bench and they are as follows:

There is a dog hole that could be a square or a circle where the clamps are attached. The bench dog is the peg that is attached to the hole.

The hold fast holds all the boards along with the dog hole and bench dog. The visa holds the wood while cutting and the bench hook is used to turn wood.

I also want you to know that benchmarks and plans are very important even if you will make small woodwork.

There are many benches that are sold on the internet and in the shops by sealers but the woodworkers prefer to build their own because it is more comfortable for them and is cheaper despite of time used for woodwork bench.
